Printer offline is a common problem even in HP printers.  In simple words, offline status means that the printer is unable to communicate with the computer. This means that the printer cannot receive print jobs and will not print until the status is resumed to online. There are several reasons why you may come across the HP printer offline issue. However, usually, it is because of outdated drivers, pending print jobs, and problems in the connection.  So to resolve the problem you will have to follow different troubleshooting solutions. 

Troubleshooting HP Printer Offline Problem

Check the Printer Connections

If the printer is connected using ethernet cable then make sure every wire is properly connected and the connection is not damaged. In case of faulty connections make sure to replace it immediately to fix the problem. 

In case you are using a wireless connection to connect the printer then follow the steps mentioned below:

⦁ Turn off the printer and then wait for 5-10 seconds. Now take out the power cord.

⦁ Wait for a minute and then plug in the power cord and turn on the printer.

⦁ Take out the power cord of the wireless router.  Now, wait for a few seconds and plug in the power cord and turn on the router and wait until the internet connection resumes. 

⦁ You can use the HP wireless setup to connect the printer with the network.  You can also view the connectivity issues. So, the connection related issues can be fixed.


Set Default Printer

HP printer offline problem may occur because the default printer may have been changed.  So, you may have to set the default printer again. 

⦁ Click on the Start and then select Devices and Printers.

⦁ Right-click on the HP printer and then select 'set as default printer'. 

⦁ Now run a test print to see if the issue is resolved or not.
